travel in europe by train

There are many different options available if you want to travel in Europe by train, especially in France. The French Railways system offers the most time and cost-effective way to get around France, especially the Train Grande Vitesse, which can shoot you from one end of the country to the other at speeds of up to 300km per hour.
The easiest way to get around in Paris is by the underground Metropolitan Train and its sister system, the RER. The Metropolitan network is massive, and wherever you are in Paris, a station is never far away.
You can buy individual tickets, a 'carnet' of ten tickets, or a daily pass. There's also the weekly or monthly 'Carte Orange' travel pass, which may be more economical if you plan to vacation there for a week or more.
Other passes include metro-bus combo passes, or 'Paris Visites', which are exclusive to foreign travelers. Paris Visites are valid for up to five days of unlimited use of the city's entire transportation network and can be bought online before your vacation.
