Now you can begin your journey through Europe by train in London
The English Channel Tunnel makes traveling Europe by train even easier. Before the English Channel Tunnel (sometimes referred to as the "Chunnel"), you were only able to go from London to Paris by air or by sea.
A typical journey lasted anywhere from six to eight hours depending on whether the trip involved hovercraft or ferry connections. By air the trip was much shorter, but also much more expensive.
Today, thanks to Eurostar and the English Channel Tunnel, the train ride between London and Paris can be as short as two hours and thirty five minutes.
When the new high speed link is completed later this year, travel time will be reduced by about twenty minutes.
Traveling by Eurostar is more comfortable than traveling by air, even in the cheapest Standard Class seats.
It's also more convenient, because you travel from city center to city center.
